Valores

Philosophy

Guanábana's philosophy is based on the union of two worlds: European fashion design and traditional manufacturing techniques from Latin America. The brand was born thanks to the love for crafts, so all our products are handmade by artisans and hide their personal story behind. Part of our success comes from being able to understand the artisans' way of working, their circumstances and techniques. It took a lot of effort and time to achieve the perfect combination between the work of designers and artists, which translates into the recovery, adaptation and evolution of many of these traditional techniques. The result is a unique, high-quality, life-long product.

Product

Our products are the result of the combined work of the design team and the artisans. All our articles are born in the minds of our designers in the Madrid offices. Taking into account the latest trends and knowing first-hand the traditional techniques, they design patterns and prints, playing with color combinations and the geometric shapes to create the different collections for each season. The designs are sent to Colombia, where they will be woven by artisans using ancient techniques, many of them until our arrival in disuse. Once ready, the products return to Spain to be finished in our offices.

We work all kinds of accessories: bags, bracelets, belts, hats, espadrilles and small accessories. For this, we use various materials such as acrylic, iraca, semi-precious stones or Japanese glass beads. Our artisans use ancient techniques such as crocheting or manual looms, although many of these methods have been adapted and evolved to bring new innovative products to life. We invest great energy in doing research, both in materials, processes and techniques. The objective of Guanábana is for women, men and children to enjoy design and high quality handicrafts made with love, combining tradition and innovation.

Compromise

The fundamental pillar for the growth of the brand has been and is human relations. Guanábana began by working with a small group of artisans; today the number is more than 1,200. For this reason, there is an important commitment to the development of the communities with which we work, many of which suffer from an unfavorable economic situation and job shortage. In the past twelve years, Guanábana has provided stable employment to hundreds of people in these communities. We make sure there are a number of orders enough to guarantee sustainable work over time for artisans, who are paid in advance. This translates into increased independence and income for hundreds of families, who thanks to their work with Guanábana have improved their quality of life and contributed to the development of their communities.
